As part of America's scenic "North Coast", Port Clinton and Ottawa County encompass almost 75 miles of waterfront along the southwestern edge of Lake Erie. The town is rich in recreational opportunities, offers world-class fishing and boating, beaches, island excursions and Lake Erie wineries. Golfing and outdoor activities also abound, and the area is home to Cedar Point amusement park, natural wildlife areas and various sites that commemorate the area's historical heritage. In Port Clinton, you can watch the ferry boats and fishermen at the docks, head to the Lake Erie Islands for a day or two of fun, visit the Performing Arts Center for the classical music series or attend a local arts & crafts festival. Sandusky Bay to the south offers opportunities for a variety of water-related activities, also. Dockage and charter boat services can be found at the many marinas in Port Clinton. There are also public and private boat launching facilities. The village of Marblehead, which is just minutes from Port Clinton, is home to the busiest United States Coast Guard station on the Great Lakes and the famous Marblehead Lighthouse. Downtown Marblehead features gift and antique shops, in new and restored buildings, several art galleries display paintings and prints for sale, including those by nationally known Marblehead artist Ben Richmond. It’s a fascinating, beautiful, rich area that is largely undiscovered by many in the country.
